Yummy is an archetype that releases in Justice Hunters on July 30th, 2025. Yummy is a Link and Synchro archetype… without any main deck tuners?! Let’s take a look at these adorable new threats.
Main Ingredients
There are three Main Deck Yummy monsters: Cupsie☆Yummy , Cooky☆Yummy , and Lollipo☆Yummy . These are the sweet plushies that you’ll be picking up with the Synchro crane machine monsters! They all share an effect: if you control a Link-1 or a Level 2 Synchro monster, they can be Special Summoned from the hand. Then, they get an effect when summoned, but those effects become even stronger when summoned by a Synchro monster.
• Cupsie searches your Deck for a “Yummy” monster, with an additional effect to draw a card
• Cooky reduces the opponent’s Attack points by 1000, with an additional effect to destroy the monster instead
• Lollipo shuffles a card from the opponent’s GY into their deck, with an additional effect to Banish it instead
It’s clear that the Main Deck monsters are the resource and starting engine for this Deck. They mention a Link-1, so you know what that means…
What a Catch!
Yummy★Snatchy is a Link-1 that requires a Level four or lower Light Beast monster. On Special Summon, it places a Yummy Field Spell from your Hand or Deck – that means no Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring ! If you do so, Snatchy locks your Link summons into Link-2s or lower. Then, once per chain, you may pay 100 Life Points to Synchro Summon during the Main Phase or the opponent’s Battle Phase! (This is a reference to how you have to pay 100 Yen to play a crane machine - how cute!) But how useful could that be with a Link monster on the field…?
Shaking the Machine
All of the Yummy Synchro monsters are Level 2, and can be Synchro Summoned by using a Link-1 instead of a Level one tuner! It’s important to note that it can be any Link-1 monster, not just Yummy Snatchy. Furthermore, if the opponent activates a card or an effect, all Yummy Synchro monsters can “tag out” by returning themselves into the Extra Deck and snagging two plushies at once, pulling up two Yummy monsters from the GY onto the field! The Yummy Synchros are also Tuners themselves, meaning they can combine with the Main Deck Yummy monsters to Synchro for Level 3s!
Finally, just like their Main Deck forms, the Synchro Yummy monsters have effects on Synchro Summon.
• Lollipo★Yummy Way special summons two Yummy monsters from the GY, but negates their effects.
• Cooky★Yummy Way targets two monsters on the field and flips them face-down.
• Cupsie★Yummy Way Way adds two Yummy monsters from the Deck to the Hand, then requires you to discard a card.
Just One More Play, Okay?
Yummy has not one, but two field spells! Yummysment☆Minion gives a 500 ATK point boost to Yummy monsters for each Light Beast monster on the field. This quickly gets out of control considering the recursive power of the Yummy Synchros. Then, if you control a Link-1, you may revive a Yummy monster from your GY. Combined with Snatchy’s ability to search Minion makes for a one-card Synchro combo!
Yummysment★Acrockie is more disruptive, letting you pop a monster if you Synchro Summon! This is a disruption since Snatchy lets you Synchro Summon on the opponent’s turn. Then, if a monster you control leaves the field due to an opponent’s card effect, you get to Special Summon a Yummy monster from your Deck. Don’t forget, even if they’re not Special Summoned via a Synchro monster’s effect, you still get a slight bonus.
Both Field Spells have amazing recursive abilities – they can shuffle themselves and two Yummy monsters from the GY to the bottom of the deck! This deck is reminiscent of Prank-Kids with how recursive and independent the archetype engine is.
The last Yummy Spell card is Yummy☆Surprise , a quick-play Spell card with a “pick one” effect to either:
• Return two Light Beasts you control to your hand, then return two cards your opponent controls.
• Special Summon a Yummy monster from hand or Graveyard
• Return a Field Spell from Field or GY to the hand, then place a Yummy Field Spell onto the field from your hand.
Yummy Surprise is amazing for extending, as it can outmaneuver a Nibiru, the Primal Being (more on that later), or be used on the opponent’s turn to Synchro Summon after a board wipe.
Supplementary Engines
The most popular side engine for Yummy is the Sky Striker package, consisting of Sky Striker Mobilize - Engage! , Sky Striker Mecha - Hornet Drones , and Sky Striker Ace - Kagari. This engine works by creating a Link-1 monster and a level one token, meaning you have the right material for the Synchro Summon of Yummy Way and search for the starter cards of your engine! It's amazing what the card can still do.
Similarly, Sangan can start off your combo by sending itself to the GY for the Link Summon of Salamangreat Almiraj ! From there, you can search your deck for a Yummy monster, which then Special Summons itself as you have a Link-1 monster on the field. (This is a summoning condition, not an effect, so Sangan's restriction does not matter!)
So what do all these adorable, fluffy sweet treats net you? Unfortunately, a much more terrifying and less cute end board. As the Yummy Synchro monsters are all Level 2 Synchros, they can climb into either Martial Metal Marcher or the newly released THE Star Ham to further climb into Herald of the Arc Light as an omni-negate, usually accompanied by enough material to make S:P Little Knight. This field isn't devoid of all saccharine flavor - you'll have one of the Field Spells, and a Yummy Surprise to recover.
Due to the flexible nature of Link-1 monsters, Yummy can typically recover from even Nibiru, the Primal Being. By using the token to Link summon Link Spider, you can extend for as long as you can put another Level one monster on the field.
Conclusion
With the advent of Dragon Tail and K9 in the same set, it's easy to forget about Yummy. But let's not forget about its multi-faceted interactions and fabulous grind game, lest it pulls a victory from the dead zone!
